In Loving Memory of

Gerald Alan Moss

January 3rd, 2022

Obituary

A loyal husband to his wife Lynn; a loving father to his three daughters Jamie, Abbie (Bobby), and Joli; adored grandfather “Papa” to Ryan (Eliza), Mollie (Mike), Max, Charlie, and Chase; a kind-hearted great grandfather to Jaxon; devoted son to the late Mollie and Eugene Moss; dear brother to the late Morton (Dinni) Moss, He was loved and cherished by countless family and friends.

Jerry met his wife Lynn in 1960 and they spent nearly sixty beautiful years together. Almost forty were spent in their house in Glenview where they raised their three daughters and five grandchildren. They made countless memories together and were a very close family. He was a constant presence at every event when it came to his grandchildren, from basketball to baseball games, even dance recitals for his girls, they knew they could always count on their Papa to be cheering them on from the side.

Starting at a young age, when he began his first job, Jerry was already exemplifying the values in which he instilled to everyone that came across his path. From the customers in his store at Budlong Drugs, to the players on his grandchildren's sports teams he made an impact on every life he touched. Jerry had the ability to make every single person he came across feel like they were the most important person in the room.

Perhaps Jerry’s most apparent quality of all was his selflessness. From paying tuition for his young employees at the drugstore, to putting his life on the line serving his country, he was the kind of man who would give a stranger the shirt off his back. It was never for boast or praise, it was simply who he was.

Every time his phone would ring he would answer “Jerry Here” and a call never ended without hearing the words “I love you”. Each birthday and holiday card were inscribed with the words “Sunshine Forever”. There was never a dull moment with Jerry and his unconditional love was something to treasure and will never be forgotten. His spirit will live on endlessly in the closely cherished memories of his friends and family.
