Obituary

Robert George Platek of Northlake, IL, age 82, at rest on Sunday, January 3, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph, mother, Helen and younger sister Linda. He is survived by his brothers George, Joseph, and Howard and his sister Sandra (Wilson). He is also survived by his wife, Judith Marie (nee Kaz); and children, Lorraine (Kathryn) Platek, Cheryl (Israel) Rimler, and John (Carolyn) Platek. Bob was a devoted grandfather of Caitlin Platek; Joshua, Corey, Nichole and Samantha Beck; and Hadley and Harlan Platek. He was beloved great-grandfather of Zoe Hagan, Kylie Beck, and Kaitlin English-Beck, and loved by his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bob was a proud United States Coast Guard veteran serving in Chicago from 1960 until 1962. He and Judy celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage together and lived in their home in Northlake, IL for fifty-three years. Bob loved working with his hands and was a supervisor at Gotham Plastics and skilled at machine maintenance for subsequent employers including Zenith Electronics Corporation and Entenmann’s Bakery. An outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed fishing along the Mississippi River in Keithsburg, IL. He also enjoyed hunting and bird watching and was dedicated to tending to his garden.

Condolences may be sent to Judy Platek at 1750 Elmhurst Rd, Apt 252B, Des Plaines, IL 60018. The graveside service and shiva will be private. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
