Obituary

Melvin Harold Wachspress, age 94, of Lincolnshire, Illinois, and formerly of Syosset, New York, loving husband of Ruth Wachspress, nee Lasner; cherished brother of Eugene Wachspress; loving father of Eric Wachspress (partner of Elise Sullivan Wachspress) and Deborah Wachspress; beloved grandfather of Aviel Fischer-Wachspress, Ashira Fischer-Wachspress, Megan Wachspress (with her husband Nathan Naze), Joshua Wachspress (with his partner Ann Lucena), and Samuel Wachspress and proud great-grandfather of Rosalind Naze. With gratitude to his long-time caregiver Marlene Mayfield.

Melvin served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from and remained a proud supporter of The Cooper Union and was an electrical engineer with General Instrument Corporation for many years.

He was an avid and creative photographer and a licensed ham radio operator (W2SFB).

Due to the pandemic virus, the funeral, graveside service, and shiva will be private.
