Elaine Diamond

Obituary

Elaine Ruth Steiner Diamond, age 94, passed away on November 18, 2020 at Sedgebrook Retirement Community in Lincolnshire. She was born on December 23, 1925 in Chicago to George and Jane (Woodman) Steiner. She was preceded in death by her husbands Alan ("Grandpa Al") Diamond, David Kantro, Avrum Block and Saul "Buddy" Arnold, her sister Joan (Harold) Kerman. She is survived by her children, David (Dori) Block, Ruth Block and Paul (Marty) Arnold, grandchildren, Sam, Dawn, Leah, Danielle, Jaimie and Deborah and three great-grandchildren, a special cousin, Sally Steiner Mann and nephews Rob and Rick Kerman.
Elaine was an outgoing woman who was active in Hadassah, the Holocaust Museum in Skokie (ilholocaustmuseum.org), the Skokie Valley Symphony, the National Council of Jewish Women (ncjwcns.org) and Sedgebrook's Residents Advisory Council. She enjoyed interior design, modern art, travel, opera and classical music. Elaine was proud of her Jewish heritage and a Chicagoan through and through. Elaine lived for family gatherings and loved hosting elegant holiday dinners. A private service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, at Rosehill Cemetery.
